We are supposed to respect every religion but what if that religion believes in human sacrifice as does Judiasm, Islam, and Christianity and others? hmmmmmmm what does that say about the first amendment?
Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment wikipedia

In 1878, the Supreme Court was first called to interpret the extent of the Free Exercise Clause in Reynolds v. United States, as related to the prosecution of polygamy under federal law. The Supreme Court upheld Mr. Reynolds' conviction for bigamy, deciding that to do otherwise would provide constitutional protection for a gamut of religious beliefs, including those as extreme as human sacrifice. The Court said (at page 162): "Congress cannot pass a law for the government of the Territory which shall prohibit the free exercise of religion. The first amendment to the Constitution expressly forbids such legislation." Of federal territorial laws, the Court said: "Laws are made for the government of actions, and while they cannot interfere with mere religious beliefs and opinions, they may with practices."
Jehovah's Witnesses were often the target of such restriction. Several cases involving the Witnesses gave the Court the opportunity to rule on the application of the Free Exercise Clause. Subsequently, the Warren Court adopted an expansive view of the clause, the "compelling interest" doctrine (whereby a state must show a compelling interest in restricting religion-related activities), but later decisions have reduced the scope of this interpretation.

The Mormons, believing that the law unconstitutionally deprived them of their First Amendment right to freely practice their religion, chose to ignore Morrill Anti-Bigamy Act at the time. On the other hand, in subsequent years, efforts had been underway to strengthen the anti-bigamy laws. Eventually, amid the efforts to indict the LDS leadership for bigamy, the First Presidency agreed to furnish a defendant in a test case to be brought before the United States Supreme Court to determine the constitutionality of the anti-bigamy law. Reynolds, a secretary in the office of the President of the Church, agreed to serve as the defendant, then provided the attorney numerous witnesses who could testify of his being married to two wives, and was indicted for bigamy by a grand jury on October 23, 1874. In 1875, Reynolds was convicted and sentenced to two years hard labor in prison and a fine of five hundred dollars. In 1876 the Utah Territorial Supreme Court upheld the sentence.
Previously, U.S. Attorney William Carey promised to stop his attempts to indict general authorities during the test case. However when Carey failed keep his promise and arrested George Q. Cannon, the LDS church leaders decided that they would no longer cooperate with him. Reynolds v. United States appeal. [1])

Animal sacrifice in America

On Sunday, December 27, the bodies of hundreds of animals were found in a Philadelphia home. Among the dead were cats, dogs, deer, sheep, goats, and turtles. The animals are believed to have been killed as part of some sort of Santeria rituals. According to the UPI, George Bengal of the Pennsylvania SPCA said Santeria cultists "usually take the skull and the feet and the blood and drain the blood from the animal. They'll drink the blood and use the skull and feet as part of the altar." In addition to the staggering number of animal corpses, two emaciated dogs and an AK-47 were found on the property.
The owner of the home -- rumored to currently be in Mexico -- has not been found. What punishment awaits those responsible for the slaughter of countless animals in the name of religion? Hardly any punishment at all. The caretaker of the two abused dogs faces citations related to lack of veterinary care and unsanitary confinement. Each citation -- two for each dog -- carries a $750 fine. If it can be proven that cats and dogs were killed, then there may be misdemeanor animal-cruelty charges.
For the most part, animal sacrifice is perfectly legal in the U.S. In 1993, the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Church of the Lukumi Babalu Aye v. Hialeah that sacrificing animals in the name of religion is protected under the First Amendment. It was a unanimous decision. Efforts to curb or restrict animal sacrifice have not been particularly successful in the wake of the 1993 verdict. For example, in the summer of 2009 the right of a Texas Santeria priest to sacrifice animals (usually goats) was upheld by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. According to the Santeria practitioner in the case, Jose Merced, "You cannot do initiations without an animal with four legs. You cannot do it with just chickens. Without that, the religion ceases to exist."
Santeria is certainly not the only religion to feature animal sacrifice. The Old Testament of Jews and Christians contains frequent references to killing animals in God's name. Some Muslims sacrifice a sheep to mark the end of the Hajj. Hindus in Nepal recently slaughtered 200,000 buffaloes, goats, chickens and pigeons as part of a religious festival honoring one of their deities. Yet is all this killing and bloodshed morally acceptable just because religion is involved?
In some Chinese Taoist folk tales, after death a person is confronted with the spirits of all the living things -- both animal and human -- he or she harmed in life. These spirits sit in judgement of the deceased. That is a spiritual tradition I can accept, not one in which "the religion ceases to exist" without killing.

Theistic religions in one way or another were founded upon ritualized murder. What made children susceptible to sacrifice, was their virginity and their innocence. This concept is embedded in Judaism and Christianity to this day.
Paradoxically, child sacrifice ended when Judah was captured by the hated Babylonians in 586 BCE. Jews don't practice their canonical obligation to sacrifice anymore, but there is still one remaining legacy where they celebrate child sacrifice every year. And that is the Passover when Yahweh killed firstborn Egyptians and their firstborn livestock. To ease their conscience they label it as their release from Egyptian bondage.

Christians may feel that their religion is above such barbarous practices. That is only because they have been dulled into ignoring the immorality of the torturous sacrifice of one innocent man.

The video to the right shows Don Glenn, director of BLM Wild Horse & Burro program, repeatedly stating on Dec 7, 2009 that full public observation of roundups ("gathers") would be provided:
"All of our gathers are open to the public ... if we had hundreds of thousands of people wanting to come out and watch a gather we'd have to manage that situation ... If the public or the press wants to observe a gather, they just need to get a hold of us and tell us that they want to observe a gather and we'll accommodate them ... they can come and observe the gather for the whole time ... we will accommodate them."

The multi-billion dollar Ruby Pipeline natural gas project from Wyoming to the West Coast has won approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, according to an announcement by El Paso Corporation.
The project has received support from several state administrations in the Rocky Mountain region, which have cited the acute need to enhance infrastructure for moving natural gas to domestic markets.
The Ruby Pipeline runs nearly 700 miles between a natural gas hub at Opal, Wyoming and a connection point close to the Oregon-California border. The 42-inch diameter pipeline has enough capacity to handle the movement of up to 1.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas on a daily basis. El Paso said it’s still waiting for right-of-way approval from the BLM, but expects construction to start within a few months with completion expected in March 2011.
Several major energy companies operating in Colorado have already signed agreements to ship natural gas on the pipeline, including Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Barry Petroleum Company, Antero Resources Piceance Corp., BP Energy Company, Shell Energy North America, Marathon Oil Co. and Bill Barrett Corp. A major investor in the project is Connecticut-based Global Infrastructure Partners, which could pony up as much as $700 million in the Ruby Pipeline project, when all is said and done.

Eugene Mallove was a notable proponent and supporter of research into cold fusion. He authored the book Fire from Ice, which details the 1989 report of table-top cold fusion from Stanley Pons and Martin Fleischmann at the University of Utah.[23] The book claims the team did produce "greater-than-unity" output energy in an experiment, which supposedly was successfully replicated on several occasions.[24] Mallove claims that the results were suppressed through an organized campaign of ridicule from mainstream physicists. He was fatally beaten May 14, 2004 in Norwich, Connecticut by an unknown assailant. His violent death was suspected by some to be related to the nature of his work[25], while the police officially suspected robbery as the motive.[26]
In 2005, two previously-convicted criminals were arrested in connection with the killing.[27][28][29] The case proceeded slowly,[26] and the charges against the two men were dismissed on November 6, 2008, due to there being no forensic evidence linking them to the murder.[30]

Bearden and his colleagues have proposed a simple modification to the magnetic Wankel engine (Takahashi Motor[32]) which he claims would deliver "over-unity performance" through asymmetrical regauging. He believes that this technology is known, and suppressed, by Japanese interests.[33]
He has repeatedly expressed his belief that the key to over-unity systems was present in the original form of Maxwell's Equations, and this potential was realized by Nikola Tesla; however, he claims that part of the equations were deliberately suppressed in their vectorization by Heaviside and Lorentz in the late 19th century. Bearden claims this was orchestrated by industrialist J.P. Morgan, in order to protect his oil interests[34]
He claims that "nuclear power plant consortium" has worked to "ruthlessly suppress" cold fusion, and further that this consortium "is almost certainly to blame for the murder of Gene Mallove, the main proponent and activist for cold fusion".[35]
He has hypothesized that the death of Arie M. DeGeus in Charlotte, North Carolina was actually a murder carried out to suppress his development of a "self-powering battery".[36]

He authored the book Fire from Ice, which details the 1989 report of table-top cold fusion from Stanley Pons and Martin Fleischmann at the University of Utah.[23] The book claims the team did produce "greater-than-unity" output energy in an experiment, which supposedly was successfully replicated on several occasions.[24] Mallove claims that the results were suppressed through an organized campaign of ridicule from mainstream physicists. He was fatally beaten May 14, 2004 in Norwich, Connecticut by an unknown assailant. His violent death was suspected by some to be related to the nature of his work[25], while the police officially suspected robbery as the motive.[26]
In 2005, two previously-convicted criminals were arrested in connection with the killing.[27][28][29] The case proceeded slowly,[26] and the charges against the two men were dismissed on November 6, 2008, due to there being no forensic evidence linking them to the murder.[30]

Bearden and his colleagues have proposed a simple modification to the magnetic Wankel engine (Takahashi Motor[32]) which he claims would deliver "over-unity performance" through asymmetrical regauging. He believes that this technology is known, and suppressed, by Japanese interests.[33]
He has repeatedly expressed his belief that the key to over-unity systems was present in the original form of Maxwell's Equations, and this potential was realized by Nikola Tesla; however, he claims that part of the equations were deliberately suppressed in their vectorization by Heaviside and Lorentz in the late 19th century. Bearden claims this was orchestrated by industrialist J.P. Morgan, in order to protect his oil interests[34]
He claims that "nuclear power plant consortium" has worked to "ruthlessly suppress" cold fusion, and further that this consortium "is almost certainly to blame for the murder of Gene Mallove, the main proponent and activist for cold fusion".[35]
He has hypothesized that the death of Arie M. DeGeus in Charlotte, North Carolina was actually a murder carried out to suppress his development of a "self-powering battery".[36]
Bearden has published no evidence for any of these claims.

On Nov. 11, inventor of a revolutionary, affordable, clean energy technology, Arie M. DeGeus of AMDG Scientific Corp was found slumped in his car, totally unresponsive, in the long-term parking lot of the Charlotte Douglass International Airport in North Carolina. He was taken to the hospital and died a short time later. The autopsy suggested heart failure, so officials were saying the death was a result of a medical problem or natural causes, and not likely to be a homicide. (Ref.; ref.)
Those who were involved with his research are doubtful, citing, among other things, that he had been in relatively good health. The timing is also suspicious. He was apparently on his way to Europe where he was to secure major funding for the development and commercialization of his technology, which could make oil obsolete as a fuel source.

"There is only on appropriate candidate. William J. Clinton, 42nd president of the United States of America should become the 11th president of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, also known as the World Bank.
Clearly Clinton fills all necessarily criteria.
His recent work on debt, HIV and climate change indicates that he understands the development process and the importance of achieving sustainable economic growth to improve the lives of the poor.
He also understands that economic growth is not sufficient on its own, but is merely a tool that must be utilised in a responsible and considered manner".
Strangely the article's author Dr Matthew Clarke neglects to mention the difficulties that Bill Clinton got into with female employees while at the White House, and his none too transparent public announcements on that issue.
Regardless of that, we can consider Bill Clinton now to be on the longlist.

There can be no patent for life because Life is not an invention of man, Life is an invention of the Creator given to man as an unalienable Right according to the Constitution of the United States.
The signers of the Declaration of Independence deemed it a "self evident truth" that all men are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights". Inalienable (Individual) Rights are: natural rights, among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
The term inalienable rights(or unalienable rights) refers to a set of individual human rights that by their nature cannot be taken away, violated, or transferred. They are the most fundamental set of human rights, natural means not-granted nor conditional. They are applicable only to humans, as the basic necessity of our human survival.
Food is life, so therefore, included in these inalienable rights to life is the right to sustain life by planting and harvesting crops for food. In order to fully exercise these inalienable rights, and as a basic necessity for survival, the individual has the inalienable right to the free and open use of the natural plant and aniimal world (also known as farming). Patents grant corporate ownership of seed stock and living organisms, and in essence, revokes from the individual this inalienable human right to life and grants it to multi-national corporations like Monsanto. This is unethical and immoral, and this ruling must be overturned.

Defense Contracting Fraud
On July 23, 1992, GE pled guilty in federal court to civil and criminal charges of defrauding the Pentagon and agreed to pay $69 million to the U.S. government in fines — one of the largest defense contracting fines ever. The company said in a statement that it took responsibility for the actions of a former marketing employee who, along with an Israeli Air Force General, diverted Pentagon funds to their own bank accounts and to fund Israeli military programs not authorized by the United States. Under the settlement with the Justice Department over violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, GE paid $59.5 million in civil fraud claims and $9.5 million in criminal fines.
GE’s civil and criminal transgressions stemming from the Israeli military program are by no means isolated. GE is a repeat offender when it comes to Defense Department fraud. The company has repeatedly violated the False Claims Act — a measure originally proposed by Lincoln to protect federal coffers. When the Project on Government Oversight surveyed defense contractors, it found that General Electric was responsible for 15 instances of fraudulent activity in just a four year period (1990-1994) — more than any other defense contractor.
On August 10, 1995 the U.S. Department of Justice announced (# 95-438) that GE would pay $7.1 million to settle a contract fraud suit initiated by Ian Johnson, an engineer at GE's Aircraft Engines plant in Evendale, Ohio in 1993. Johnson had alleged that GE "sold several thousand jet engines to the military that did not comply with military electrical bonding and electromagnetic interference testing requirements," according to DoJ. (Subsequently, the Air Force tested the engines and found them to be safe.) Johnson filed the suit on behalf of the United States under the qui tam provisions of the False Claims Act.
On January 10, 1997, the U.S. Department of Justice announced (# 97-012) that GE would pay $950,000 to settle allegations that it fraudulently misrepresented that it had conducted certain test procedures on circuit boards for hundreds of aircraft engine controls when in fact the tests were not conducted.
GE paid $5.87 million (along with Martin Marietta) to settle a qui tam suit associated with improper sales of radar systems to Egypt.

It’s now known our Great White Father in Washington, that is, the United States Government, and its various agencies/departments that are supposed to look out for us and the environment, has been letting Big Oil look out for us instead.
It’s now known the British Petroleum (BP) department of Big Oil did not use the most modern or safest drilling equipment or practices on its Deepwater Horizon oil rig off the Louisiana coast. It’s now known the reason BP did not use the most modern or safest drilling equipment is because that equipment’s safety device, once engaged, plugs a well instantly and permanently. Meaning, no more oil can be obtained from that rig. Meaning, no more money can be made from that rig.
It’s now generally believed BP and our Great White Father in Washington have consistently and purposefully understated the amount of oil gushing out of the seabed where BP’s Deepwater Horizon well blew up and was not sealed immediately, because it it not have the safety device that would seal it immediately, because that safety device would terminate that oil rig’s oil recovery forever.
BP and our Great White Father in Washington still have not plugged the seabed gusher, and their efforts to mitigate the oil already on the loose are pretty much not doing a very good job, to doing an awful job, all of their rhetoric to the contrary notwithstanding.
What is only just now becoming known to slow-minded people such as myself is there has been for some time now a microbe technology that is hugely successful in cleaning up oil spills on land and on water, including saltwater. BP and our Great White Father in Washington know about these microbe oil gobblers, which work a hell of a lot better and cost a hell of a lot less than the methods BP is now using. As far as is known, these oil gobbing microbes cause no collateral damage and themselves die off and become fish food after they have no more oil to gobble.
Down below is a youtube link presentation of this microbe oil gobbling technology, which State Attorney Dennis Ward forwarded to a lot of people yesterday after he received it from someone else. The microbe oil gobblers were tested by the State of Texas for oil spills. Texas then decreed oil gobbling microbes would be the first and central defense response to all oil spills in Texas, and all oil companies in Texas would make these oil gobbling microbes their first and central defense response to oil spills.
As you watch the video, ask yourself why the State of Texas hasn’t been screaming to high heaven for it to be allowed to intervene and put its oil gobbling microbes to work gobbling up this devastating oil spill Big Oil and our Great White Father in Washington have unleashed on us. Also wonder why BP and our Great White Father in Washington did not already adopt and use “the Texas solution” on this terrorist oil attack. Also wonder why Big Oil and our Great White Father Washington did not already require all oil drilling companies to incorporate the “Texas solution” as their central defense response to oil spills.
Tell your elected city and county officials about the “Texas solution.” Maybe if they scream loud enough to Tallahassee and Washington, somebody with sense and say-so will do something with it.

They’re too small to be seen without a microscope and they certainly don’t wear uniforms. But when they’re provided with a highly oxygenated work environment at an ambient temperature of 41°C, the micro-organisms in Bio-Circle fluid are happy to support the CF by chowing down on grease, oil and other residues.
The Air Force is exploring the possibility of using this water-based enzyme cleaner, infused with micro-organisms, to clean grease and oil from various airplane parts as an alternative to harsh chemical solvents. “The military land component is already using this system on their vehicles,” explains Ed Alvarez, the environment officer for the Director General Aerospace Equipment Program Management. “The Air Force components are more complex, though, so we have to test them carefully to make sure the cleaning fluid will not have a deleterious effect on the parts.”
The Quality Engineering Test Establishment (QETE) is doing the testing. QETE is already familiar with the product because it has replaced the use of solvents such as Varsol in several of its laboratories, including the Fluids lab and the Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants lab.
The testing process is crucial, particularly considering the consequences if the cleaning solution corrodes any of the multitude of parts that keeps the airplane in the sky. As Mr. Alvarez points out,“If a part fails on a truck, it just pulls over. If a part fails on a plane, it falls down.”
Provided it passes the tests, Bio-Circle will offer a number of advantages over traditional chemical solvents, many of which are quite flammable and can be very harsh on the user and on the environment.
The Bio-Circle system is self-contained with the cleaning solution held in a tank topped by a sink.A pump directs the solution through a hose with various brush attachments to aid in cleaning and then the fluid returns to the tank through the sink’s drain and filters. Once back in the tank, the micro-organisms produce an enzyme to “digest” the grease and oil.
This digestion process is known as bioremediation and is often used on a larger scale to help clean up oil spills that threaten the environment. As the micro-organisms digest the oil, they break down the hydrocarbons that make up the fluid to water and carbon dioxide.
With a similar process occurring inside the tank of the cleaner, any oil and grease removed from the parts will be “digested” into harmless by-products. As a result, there is very little waste produced by the process. In fact, while the cleaner solution must be topped up on occasion to make up for what is lost through evaporation, it has to be replaced only once a year, unlike chemical solvents which must be replaced much more frequently. Not only could this process reduce the amount of waste produced by the Forces, but disposing of it would be significantly easier as it is not considered hazardous waste.
“Whatever is being separated from the part, it can be disposed of properly without affecting the environment,” Mr. Alvarez says. Bio-Circle causes none of the health concerns associated with many chemical solvents, making it a safer choice for the CF as well as for the environment.
If QETE’s tests prove the Bio-Circle solution to be effective with no negative effects on airplane components, then it will be carefully phased into use. “Even once we have completed the testing,” says Mr. Alvarez, “we will start its use in a limited area so we can make sure that everything is okay.”

HOUSTON, May 17 (Reuters) - A consumer group and a whistle-blower asked a U.S. federal court on Monday to stop production at BP Plc's Atlantis platform in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico until safety documents are produced.
The complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Houston alleges the British oil giant, who operates the ruptured well gushing oil off the Gulf Coast, lacked proper final engineering documents for key subsea equipment for Atlantis.
The Atlantis platform, a major facility operated by the British oil giant in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, is more than 150 miles south of New Orleans, in Green Canyon at a water depth of 7,070 feet (2,150 meters). The company produces oil and gas from more than 20 fields in the Gulf.
U.S. Secretary for the Interior Ken Salazar is named in the complaint, which accuses the Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) of failing to enforce its own regulations.
BP's nearby Deepwater Horizon platform exploded on April 20 and its Macondo well has since been spewing massive amounts of crude oil into the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, threatening the rich coastlines of four U.S. states.
"A similar spill from the BP Atlantis Facility would have a calamitous effect on marine life, endangering the public health and the economic viability plaintiffs," said the complaint filed by Food & Water Watch Inc, a nonprofit coastal environmental group, and former BP contractor Kenneth Abbott.
Abbott's efforts to bring BP into compliance with MMS regulations resulted in his termination from the company, the complaint said and alleged violation were first reported to the Inspector General for the DOI in March 2009, the lawsuit said.
BP said in a statement that it thoroughly investigated the claims when they were first made in 2009 and found them to be without substance. After a second investigation into the same allegations, the company said it made some procedural changes in its project execution plan, but those changes have no connection with the safe operation of the platform, BP said.
Representatives for the MMS were not immediately available to comment.
The Atlantis, a moored floating production platform, first began producing oil in 2007. The facility has a production capacity of 8.4 million gallons (31.8 million liters) of oil per day, and 180 million cubic feet (5 million cubic meters) of natural gas per day, according to the lawsuit.

Tell your elected city and county officials about the “Texas solution.” Maybe if they scream loud enough to Tallahassee and Washington, somebody with sense and say-so will do something with it.

They’re too small to be seen without a microscope and they certainly don’t wear uniforms. But when they’re provided with a highly oxygenated work environment at an ambient temperature of 41°C, the micro-organisms in Bio-Circle fluid are happy to support the CF by chowing down on grease, oil and other residues.
The Air Force is exploring the possibility of using this water-based enzyme cleaner, infused with micro-organisms, to clean grease and oil from various airplane parts as an alternative to harsh chemical solvents. “The military land component is already using this system on their vehicles,” explains Ed Alvarez, the environment officer for the Director General Aerospace Equipment Program Management. “The Air Force components are more complex, though, so we have to test them carefully to make sure the cleaning fluid will not have a deleterious effect on the parts.”
The Quality Engineering Test Establishment (QETE) is doing the testing. QETE is already familiar with the product because it has replaced the use of solvents such as Varsol in several of its laboratories, including the Fluids lab and the Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants lab.
The testing process is crucial, particularly considering the consequences if the cleaning solution corrodes any of the multitude of parts that keeps the airplane in the sky. As Mr. Alvarez points out,“If a part fails on a truck, it just pulls over. If a part fails on a plane, it falls down.”
Provided it passes the tests, Bio-Circle will offer a number of advantages over traditional chemical solvents, many of which are quite flammable and can be very harsh on the user and on the environment.
The Bio-Circle system is self-contained with the cleaning solution held in a tank topped by a sink.A pump directs the solution through a hose with various brush attachments to aid in cleaning and then the fluid returns to the tank through the sink’s drain and filters. Once back in the tank, the micro-organisms produce an enzyme to “digest” the grease and oil.
This digestion process is known as bioremediation and is often used on a larger scale to help clean up oil spills that threaten the environment. As the micro-organisms digest the oil, they break down the hydrocarbons that make up the fluid to water and carbon dioxide.
With a similar process occurring inside the tank of the cleaner, any oil and grease removed from the parts will be “digested” into harmless by-products. As a result, there is very little waste produced by the process. In fact, while the cleaner solution must be topped up on occasion to make up for what is lost through evaporation, it has to be replaced only once a year, unlike chemical solvents which must be replaced much more frequently. Not only could this process reduce the amount of waste produced by the Forces, but disposing of it would be significantly easier as it is not considered hazardous waste.
“Whatever is being separated from the part, it can be disposed of properly without affecting the environment,” Mr. Alvarez says. Bio-Circle causes none of the health concerns associated with many chemical solvents, making it a safer choice for the CF as well as for the environment.
If QETE’s tests prove the Bio-Circle solution to be effective with no negative effects on airplane components, then it will be carefully phased into use. “Even once we have completed the testing,” says Mr. Alvarez, “we will start its use in a limited area so we can make sure that everything is okay.”

The complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Houston alleges the British oil giant, who operates the ruptured well gushing oil off the Gulf Coast, lacked proper final engineering documents for key subsea equipment for Atlantis.
The Atlantis platform, a major facility operated by the British oil giant in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, is more than 150 miles south of New Orleans, in Green Canyon at a water depth of 7,070 feet (2,150 meters). The company produces oil and gas from more than 20 fields in the Gulf.
U.S. Secretary for the Interior Ken Salazar is named in the complaint, which accuses the Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) of failing to enforce its own regulations.
BP's nearby Deepwater Horizon platform exploded on April 20 and its Macondo well has since been spewing massive amounts of crude oil into the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, threatening the rich coastlines of four U.S. states.
"A similar spill from the BP Atlantis Facility would have a calamitous effect on marine life, endangering the public health and the economic viability plaintiffs," said the complaint filed by Food & Water Watch Inc, a nonprofit coastal environmental group, and former BP contractor Kenneth Abbott.
Abbott's efforts to bring BP into compliance with MMS regulations resulted in his termination from the company, the complaint said and alleged violation were first reported to the Inspector General for the DOI in March 2009, the lawsuit said.
BP said in a statement that it thoroughly investigated the claims when they were first made in 2009 and found them to be without substance. After a second investigation into the same allegations, the company said it made some procedural changes in its project execution plan, but those changes have no connection with the safe operation of the platform, BP said.
Representatives for the MMS were not immediately available to comment.
The Atlantis, a moored floating production platform, first began producing oil in 2007. The facility has a production capacity of 8.4 million gallons (31.8 million liters) of oil per day, and 180 million cubic feet (5 million cubic meters) of natural gas per day, according to the lawsuit.
The case is Food & Water Watch, Inc & Kenneth Abbott v Kenneth Salazar, U.S. Secretary of the Interior et al, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, No. 10-01759.

There will be an "ideas box" in which we can put our subjects for

table. Every 30 minutes, one new subject will be randomly selected.
Each person at the table can discuss the subject for 60 seconds then allow
someone else to take it up if anyone wants to.
At the end of 30 minutes a 5 minute summing up of the discussion will take
place, then a new subject will be selected.
If the table is full and someone wishes to participate someone at the table will
be requested to surrender their place - we will draw straws if necessary
we would like to create the feeling of your home kitchen table and invite you to
bring snacks food etc etc to share - there will be a bottomless coffee pot and
teapot.
This is the first of a series of experimental events in this genre and it will
be videoed by 5 cameras and broadcast live over the internet.
The video will also be edited down and distilled into capsuals to be shown on
PositiveTV.tv, youtube and the gungho media website
The kitchen table organisers are also encouraging people to host and
