BLM DENIES FULL PUBLIC ACCESS TO CALICO ROUNDUP & SPOON FEEDS GLIMPSES OF DEATHS/SUFFERING
Throughout the entire Calico Complex roundup the BLM refused to provide appropriate public access to observe and document this multi-million-dollar government operation. The BLM often omitted information reporting whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted. The public had absolutely no way to verify any of the information provided and the BLM made sure of that by confining public viewing to a few hours three days a week (many of these "public observation days" were canceled and never rescheduled). Now the BLM is indicating that public visits to the multi-million-dollar contracted holding facility on Indian Lakes Road will end.
The video to the right shows Don Glenn, director of BLM Wild Horse & Burro program, repeatedly stating on Dec 7, 2009 that full public observation of roundups ("gathers") would be provided:
"All of our gathers are open to the public ... if we had hundreds of thousands of people wanting to come out and watch a gather we'd have to manage that situation ... If the public or the press wants to observe a gather, they just need to get a hold of us and tell us that they want to observe a gather and we'll accommodate them ... they can come and observe the gather for the whole time ... we will accommodate them."

In their second allegation, authorities claim that the company withheld pipeline capacity into California to jack up prices illegally; a judge's ruling is expected in October. Regulators note that spot prices for natural gas in Southern California spiked to more than double national spot rates. "A big reason for the increase in consumers' electricity bills is because El Paso manipulated prices at the California border," alleges Harvey Y. Morris, the state utilities commission attorney arguing the case before FERC.

EXCERPT:
The Ruby Pipeline is owned by El Paso Corporation who are no strangers from scandal and legal proceedings. In August, 2006 the company was involved in a securities fraud claim resulting in fines and restitutions amounting to $285,000,000. Shortly after the suicide of Enron executive Clifford Baxter, who had been in the middle of being questioned about El Paso Corporation, another executive Charles Rice was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head. Authorities labeled Rice's death as a suicide also. El Paso paid 15.5 million dollars to the State of California to settle the Enron scandal claiming that El Paso had manipulated power sources and prices in California.
The El Paso Corporation was fined 2.3 million, the largest fine ever levied against a pipeline company for the 2006 accident and death of Bobby Ray Ownens, Jr. of Louisiana. Owens was a bulldozer operator working in the Rockies Express Pipeline when his machinery struck a buried 36" natural gas pipeline owned by El Paso Corporation. Owens was killed, and the explosion and fire devoured 600 acres. An investigation revealed that federal requirements which require pipelines to be specifically marked as to location to provide protection for American workers had not been done.
The list of complaints continue from non-compliance with New Jersey's Air Pollution Control Act with a fine of 1.1 million dollars to complaints in Kentucy for releasing PCBs without permits.
So how much are the wild horses really impacting the environment as the BLM contends? Ginger Kathrens, Executive Director of The Cloud Foundation states, " The BLM is spending more than $30 million dollars to quickly eradicate an irreplaceable piece of American living history. I ask myself, what's the rush? Is it only pressure from ranchers? Does the BLM fear the ROAM Act will pass? Is it to clear the land for the Ruby Pipeline project, or is it something else?

Feds Recommend Approval of Two
Reported by Staff
The multi-billion dollar Ruby Pipeline natural gas project from Wyoming to the West Coast has won approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, according to an announcement by El Paso Corporation.
The project has received support from several state administrations in the Rocky Mountain region, which have cited the acute need to enhance infrastructure for moving natural gas to domestic markets.
The Ruby Pipeline runs nearly 700 miles between a natural gas hub at Opal, Wyoming and a connection point close to the Oregon-California border. The 42-inch diameter pipeline has enough capacity to handle the movement of up to 1.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas on a daily basis. El Paso said it’s still waiting for right-of-way approval from the BLM, but expects construction to start within a few months with completion expected in March 2011.
Several major energy companies operating in Colorado have already signed agreements to ship natural gas on the pipeline, including Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Barry Petroleum Company, Antero Resources Piceance Corp., BP Energy Company, Shell Energy North America, Marathon Oil Co. and Bill Barrett Corp. A major investor in the project is Connecticut-based Global Infrastructure Partners, which could pony up as much as $700 million in the Ruby Pipeline project, when all is said and done.

The Ruby Pipeline L.L.C. (El Paso Corporation) Project which will transport natural gas from Wyoming through northern Utah and northern Nevada to Oregon is moving along quickly. However, there is still time to take action in stalling this project until all environmental and cultural impacts, as well as alternative routes, have been fully studied.
Menopause
EXCERPT:
"No study exists showing any anti-depressant including Pristiq works any better than a placebo for reducing hot flashes, which are subjective anyway and only last a few minutes long at worst," wrote another anonymous poster. "That is a heavy price to pay to take a heavy duty drug 24/7 for a few minutes of daily relief that a sugar pill also provides. FDA is crazy (or bought) if they allow this unproven drug travesty on the market."
A third poster predicted women wouldn't trade, "hot flashes for decreased libido, nausea, increased blood pressure and incredible withdrawal issues," found with Pristiq. "Women and their physicians are not as gullible as they were back in the Premarin days."
